Santiago sponsors a photo exhibition in Cologne on the occasion of World Glacier Day.
Is this still snow – or are we already witnessing its disappearance?
Photography can make visible what we often overlook in everyday life. A striking example is presented at the FUHRWERKSWAAGE in Cologne with the exhibition “WEISS WAR DER SCHNEE” by artist Thomas Wrede.
Wrede’s long-term project on the melting of European glaciers combines fascinating landscape imagery with an unsettling observation: humanity’s often helpless attempts to stop irreversible change.
Opening (Vernissage):
Friday, March 20, at 6:00 PM
Speakers:
Thomas Wrede (Artist)
André Baumeister (Geoscientist)
Additional opening hours:
Saturday/Sunday, March 21/22 and March 28/29, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Until April 30, a large-format panoramic photograph of the Rhone Glacier will also be on display at the MOUNTAINVIEW Gallery of the FUHRWERKSWAAGE—an image whose full impact unfolds upon closer inspection.
Location:
FUHRWERKSWAAGE + MOUNTAINVIEW Gallery
Bergstraße 79
50999 Cologne-Sürth
Santiago Advisors is proud to support the exhibition as a sponsor. This collaboration is particularly meaningful to us, as the Santiago Art Edition 2025 also features a glacier photograph by Thomas Wrede.
The timing of the exhibition is intentional: March 21, World Glacier Day, highlights the growing importance and fragility of these unique natural environments.
